Yvonne Nominated Staff Member Of The Year!
We are proud to announce that Team Leader, Yvonne , who has worked with us for 20 years has received our first Staff Member Of The Year Award!
Cllr Lesley Ingham, Mayor of Swale, previously had a career in care as a registered nurse and ward sister presented the award on 31st March 2017.
Nominated by residents, Yvonne received the award because of her dedication to the role and how she takes time to get to know the individual needs of each individual.
Through this, she supports residents in a patient and kind way that enriches their day to day lives.
Yvonne started her career in care working as a childminder in Bromley for 16 years before working as a Care Assistant in Bromley Park Nursing Home where she worked for five years.
Following this, she moved to Eastchurch as she wanted a change of scenery and it was at this point that she started working as Team Leader at our home.
Yvonne explained that for her, working in care is about being part of a wider family and doing something that makes a tangible difference to people’s lives. She loves her job and explained that ‘even if I won the lottery, I would continue in my role as I really enjoy what I do.’
Upon receiving the award, Yvonne explained:
‘I was absolutely shocked and did not expect to be recognised in this way I love what I do and this is amazing. My husband who joined the event even managed to keep it a secret that I had won!
I have decided to donate the gift of £200 for residents, staff and their families to enjoy a BBQ in the summer. Thank you to everyone who nominated me!’
Cllr Lesley Ingam, Mayor of Swale, commented:
‘Working in care takes dedication and often those who do such a valuable job are not recognised enough. It was an honour for me to present Yvonne with this award for her excellence and dedication to the role.’
